Ignore the Distance is a prog metal and rock instrumental project, weaving soaring melodic leads, ambient textures, soft ethereal vibes and hammering grooves. Inspired by the likes of Plini, David Maxim Micic and Intervals. 

New single Spare Soul was released on 27th October 2023, from the forthcoming EP which is out in November 2023.

The seeds of the new EP were sown in early 2021, almost a year into a global pandemic, in the dark and cold northern Italian wintertime where the very initial riffs of The Accident were jotted. 

The style is a true reflection of my multiple influences, ranging from metal soloing to relaxed ambient vibes, from intricate fusion guitar excursions to straightforward rock ‘n roll riffing.   


 

NEW SINGLE: SPARE SOUL

In contrast to the dark mood of the pandemic winter during which it was conceived, the track is crafted as an uplifting and optimistic statement about the future. It celebrates the journey out of The Accident, which refers to those months of forced isolation and fear of an unknown enemy. 

Composing this track helped greatly with the process of re-emergence from those gloomy days - it was a safe place to come back to whenever refuge was needed and it has evolved into a container of feelings and memories. 

The track is a rich and multi-layered composition which is at times fast and thundering, at times mellow and intimate - telling a narrative which ebbs and flows over the course of the song.

DEBUT EP out november

How long does it take to bring an idea from an embryonic stage to a fully developed product? And how much does the idea change its creator rather than the other way around? And how many turns does the traveller have to take before getting to his destination?  

These questions cannot be answered until the process is over - only from that vantage point it is possible to look back and finally appreciate that reward may not be solely in the final result, but in the journey itself. It is from this perspective that I describe the progress of bringing this EP to a completion in what has been a constant turmoil between joy and struggle, where a multitude of ideas were rejected, superseded and rejigged until they found their ultimate shape.  

The three songs represent three different statements : The Accident is an uplifting beginning, the second track (title TBA) is a more aggressive nod to modern metal narrative, and the third (title TBA) an experimentation with odd meters and airy ambience. 
They are presented in the EP in the same order they were written as a celebration of the journey from beginning to end.

Released in 2020, Bless The Inphernet was the debut single from Ignore The Distance, and is available on all digital channels.
